Cruise to Hessel

St. Helena Light Station Excursion

The St. Helena Island Light House was built in 1873 and was automated in 1923. In 1986 the Great Lakes Light House Keepers Association along with local Boy Scout troops started the preservation of this historic structure which is ongoing today. This 266-acre uninhabited island once had a thriving community of over 200 people. You can visit this historic landmark, only accessible by boat aboard the Brown Eyed Girl II.
